How Sam Spends His Day

We recently installed a camera to watch the boys during the day.  We've yet to see Monty in the camera - we have no idea what he is up to during the day.  We always suspected Sam stayed by the door all day waiting for us to return.  Now we have proof - here is how Sam spends his day...

(Please ignore the pile of books on the pool table - this is our donation pile!)

Early morning - we had a lot of fun identifying the shadows on the black poster board to the right....

Not much difference...

Checking the view out the window...

I took these screenshots one hour apart, I was glad to see he had moved a little bit!

Back to the window....

Several hours into the day...

We do worry that he isn't getting up to drink water.

Lunchtime...

OMD - he moved!

Almost time for us to come home.
How do your pups spend the day when you are gone?

  1. LOL! I've always wanted to set up a secret camera to watch my dogs! Looks like it might be pretty boring footage.

  2. That is so cool. We don't have a camera, but I would be willing to bet that our two do just about the same.
Since we are both retired we usually are only gone for short periods but we do know they are not having any wild parties.

  5. Oh dear Sam... our Samantha might do the same thing, although perhaps you remember that the absolutely last time we left her alone, she ate Dad's leather glove and just about passed on. Do wonder what Monty's up to also!!!??? Give both pups pats from us xoxoxo

  6. Jack sits on the computer and makes prank phone calls. And orders movies from Netflix that no one wants to watch!

  7. That is sad, and wonderful all at the same time. We have been wanting to do this to see how our boys spend the day while we are away as well.

  14. I've thought about doing the same thing--Mostly because I'd love to know what the dog walker does when she comes and how long does she really stay? But as for the dogs, I know what they are doing, it's just which one is it, and who is surfing the internet? ;-)

  15. Aww he misses you. I spend my alone time sleeping on my bed in the dining room, on Mommy's bed, and on the couch. I used to sit in the window seat, but I have trouble getting up and down on it now.

  17. Looks like Sam takes his job as watchdog quite seriously!!

Our dogs sleep or watch out the window hoping to get that silly squirrel on the other side!!

  18. Probably moved because the camera was getting annoying!

You know momma would LOVE those books for the 2MillionDogs book stall at the Walk to End Cancer...just saying.

  19. The waiting is amazing. Who would have guessed that Sam would spend most of his day by the door. Did you ever see where Monty spends most of his day?

  20. Hi All, at least Sam doesn't seem distressed. He's quite content to sleep and wait. I'm sure if he's thirsty he will drink. I'd be too scared to get a camera for our two!! I think I am better off not knowing what they do hehe. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)

  24. How funny is this! Can't wait to find out what Monty does.

We did this once, to find out which dog was chewing the rug. We found out... some things we just don't want to know.

  27. I'm not sure I want to know. I'd either be heartbroken or mad as well you know. But I have considered a nanny cam.
Sam you're a good watch dog!

  28. Cool! I have often wondered what our animals do to pass the time....

  29. Our Ellie goes downstairs to the safety of her crate most of the time. Lucy doesn't watch for us and we usually find her asleep in one of the beds in the great room. Unless we are especially noisy, they don't even know we are home until we start to speak.

  30. Oh Sam, you love your mommy and daddy so very much. Maybe if you keep waiting by the door, they will come home faster??

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow, that was enlightening! Sam adores you, and just waits patiently all day long.

We don't know exactly what our dogs do while we're gone... but I do know that they move from where they are when we depart... because they're in a new place when we return.

    Where's Monty???

  32. Woof! Woof! I used to sleep a lot but now mom gave me a new job ... my naps are being interrupted. Hope you guys are well. Lots of Golden ALOHA n Woofs, Sugar

  33. This is the greatest thing ever!! I can't wait to see when Monty finally makes an appearance - what's he up to all day?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ah haha! Nala and I have been there, done that! Mommy has set up a camera to record Nala and me, the first time when she started leaving me out of my crate. She LOVED seeing how we behaved when she wasn't home! :)

    Woofs & hugs, <3

  35. Mummy has been thinking of setting up a camera to monitor me too. That's not good. Then she'll catch me in action when i'm up to my tricks.

  36. We have often thought of getting a camera to watch the girlz! Although...we think it'd be pretty boring footage...as they do NOT move off the couch...I was gone for two days and they only got off the couch to go outside to do their business and to eat a little bit and get a quick drink...then back to the couch!

  37. wow, that is really sweet, she's waiting you to come home :D

  38. Christine,
That is so funny. When Randy (Aaron) was a little boy he would do the same thing. Every morning he would fall asleep on the floor while waiting to go to the second grade.

I strongly suspect he and Sam have had many a nice nap while waiting for you to come home from work.....
