Big News! Sam the Therapy Dog!

We have some exciting news to share!  We took Sam for a TDI (Therapy Dog International) test this morning and he passed!  Our Sam is now a therapy dog!
I'm ready to share the love!
I'll admit, I was a bit nervous, which is why I hadn't mentioned on the blog we were attempting this.  There were two parts of this test that we were worried about.  The first was a 3 minute stay where I had to leave the room.  Sam hates to be separated from me, but he passed this part with flying colors!  The second, which most of the other dogs where failing at, was ignoring food on the ground.  They tossed chicken in front of Sam and he walked over it twice without even looking at it.  The evaluators were amazed that a Golden would ignore food.  Shoot, I was amazed Sam ignored the food.

Sam is getting a well earned nap right now - both Monty and he have had treats to celebrate and lots of loving.

September's BarkBox has arrived!

Guess what arrived?  Our September BarkBox!
Sam couldn't wait to get it open...
I love how excited our boys get when they realize this is their box!
What's in here?
Our first item - WAG Bath Wipes for Dogs!  We've been wanting to try these.
Sam saw something he wanted - a Barkworthies Pretzel!
Mine!
He didn't stay for the rest of the box, so Monty and I continued on.
We got a Zeke's Dental Chew...
Whole Life Sweet Potato Treats...
Whole Life Freeze Dried Pure Fresh Chicken...
...and a Crinkits!
Monty loves his Crinkit's.  I am now a master at getting the bottle inside - a little dish soap and you need to twist the bottle in.  It took a while but we have it figured out!

If you are interested in a BarkBox, head on over and sign up!  Please let them know we referred you - use referral code RrO6nwxTZB and you will $5 off your order of Barkboxes (and we will receive on month free).

Monty the Sun Worshipper...

Some of you know our Monty has a little issue with being fixated on light.  It doesn't bother us, and it keeps Monty quite happy!
You talking about me?
His light fixation is such a small part of him, but we often wonder how he got this way...
If only you could see the world like I do...
We met a couple that had considered adopting him before us, but thought it was too big of a problem to deal with.  You know, we're kind of glad they didn't want him...
I liked you guys best of all!
...and we love you too, Monty!

Crinkits - and a big thank you!

Our good friends at Lapdog Creations recently had a contest to win a Crinkits Dog Toy.  What is a Crinkits you ask?  It's a special sleeve meant to fit over a water bottle - allowing the dogs to play with it without breaking the bottle.  Well, were we surprised to find out we had won!

Our prize came in the mail today...

This is for us, isn't it?
You are so slow, Mom, let me do it!
The Crinkits!  Sam, as you can see is busy pulling the tags off.
We found a nice note in the box from the crew at Lapdog Creations!
I'll admit, I'm having trouble getting the water bottle in.  I think it requires the nice solid bottles, not the softer ones like we have.  Although, a certain pup ate the instructions before I could read them - there might have been a trick I missed...
Pesky instructions.  We don't need them...
The boys got tired of me trying to get the bottle in...
Must tear up box...
...but, the boys really want to say...
Thank you!  We love our Crinkits!

What's in a name? Trivia Tuesday...

Recently, Mitch and Molly posted about Molly's official name - Molly Pitcher Canonball!  We think the name is great!  I commented on the blog that Sam is just Cafall's Sam.  Yes, I know very imaginative!
This the best you could come up with Mom?

For those of you that have e-mailed me - you'll notice my e-mail also uses "Cafall".  I'm embarrassed to admit I am a little bit nerdy and growing up read a lot on King Arthur (which may explain the Friesian horses...) and the Susan Cooper series "The Dark is Rising".  Cafall was believed to be the brave and loyal dog belonging to King Arthur.  Supposedly in Cefn Carn Cafall (roughly translates to Cafall's Ridge or the Cairn of Cafall), which is a mountainside in Breconshire, you can find the paw print of Cafall left there during King Arthur's hunt after the wild boar.  Legend has it that whenever the stone with the print is taking away it mysteriously returns there.  In the book by Susan Cooper, Cafall is the dog belonging to Bran Davies, King Arthur's son.
I'm named after King Arthur's dog?  Excellent....

...and yes, I'm full of useless trivia!  I'm practicing for my run on Jeopardy!  BOL!

The Zoomies

Uh-oh...  This happens every bath day....

Monty gets the zoomies...
There he goes, back and forth...
He get's kind of crazy.
Mom says I'm safer if I stay still.
He's got impressive cornering skills.
Right into the wall!  Ouch!
That's gonna leave a mark.  Mom just cleaned the paw prints off of there.
This is why we don't have visitors on bath day!

Waiting...

It is getting cooler here and I think all of us are getting impatient for truly nice weather to roll in.  We've had storms, high humidity, heat (it reached over 120 degrees this summer) and our favorite - haboobs.  We've managed to take the boys on two walks, which has been great since they have had no fun since Baron stepped on my foot.  They are short walks and slow, but they are still walks...

The boys are still looking for things to do.  Sam has taken up doing puzzles:
This would be easier if I had thumbs, you know...
At least the pool table is being useful!
