Sam has been resting...
Sam has spent most of his day resting and we've been keeping an eye on him. He seems in better spirits this evening and doesn't seem to be hurting as bad. We've been watching him closely, making sure he doesn't worry his stitches, and keeping him company.
We should get the biopsy results early next week. We are keeping paws crossed that they come back with nothing to worry about. We would like to thank everyone for keeping him in your thoughts - your prayers and good wishes mean a lot to us!

Update on Sam
Sam is home. They took three of the four lumps/tumors they had identified, and even though it means he will need to go back in the future, I'm glad they made that decision, Sam is hurting badly. They took one from under his left front leg, one from his left side near his flank/abdomen and one from his left shoulder.
We've pulled a mattress onto the living room floor, and I'll be spending tonight with him. We think he needs the extra comfort.

Sam Update
Sam is home! Dr. Kerne didn't get all the lumps, she was worried about Sam after discovering how much she had to cut away to get the four she did. She sent three of them in for biopsy - please keep your fingers crossed!
This is Monty waiting for Sam to come home. Sam's Mom spent most of her day the same way!

...and here is Sam. You can see the surgery sites - one on his side and one above his hip, as well as the one on his leg she was able to wrap. There is also a fourth right above his tail, but it doesn't show in his picture.

Sam will leave the stitches alone if we tell him so, which is why he doesn't have a cone collar on. He did have the Official Surgery Shirt on to help protect them (Monty is finding them fascinating!), but Mom sent him outside this morning without rolling it up first, and Sam is a boy dog... Let's just say it is currently in the wash.
Sam was sent home with pain medicine and antibiotics. He is very sleepy, and is spending a lot of time snoozing. Mom is just relieved to have him back. Sam will need to go back in for surgery to remove the rest of the bumps after these heal, and we are worried about the results of the biopsy.

Now for the Updates!
This morning I realized my previous post had been titled "Pet Friendly Arizona! ...and some updates!" and I had forgotten the updates part!
Here are the updates - first of all, I would like to show all of you this bandanna I made for my Mom's Yorkie! We do need to take a picture of her wearing it and will post one as soon as we have it available.
Sam had surgery on Monday to remove two lumps. He came through okay and is home. Dr. Kerne believes that they are just fatty tumors. What a relief!
He is spending his time moping. Here he is waiting for me to come home. Doesn't he look cute in his t-shirt?

I don't want my blog friends to see me this way!

All right, but only for a bone!

UPDATE: Michelle from East Mesa Animal Hospital was kind enough to take a few pictures of Sam during his stay there.
Hey! Don't prisoners at least get a phone call? I demand my lawyer!

Sigh...
