Harlow vs Nature

As you know, our Harlow is a little princess.
Dere's a lump in my bed...
She has, however, decided that she wants to expand her interest and has become interested in hiking.  She has been studying Shawnee's blog (stop by and say hi!) and has decided that she was ready for her first outing.
She has a bandana, because all the cool explorers wear bandanas.
Harlow had a lot to learn.  For one, there are a lot of princess-sized bushes in the desert...
Da Momma, you better go in front and whack some bushes for me...
That the wind can blow your butt furs something fierce...
It's quite rude to da Princess...
That the desert is full of paw poking cactus...
Dese big fuzzy ones are not shnooter friendly either!
Trust me - I thought I was going to have to carry her out after her first cactus encounter.  She was also not pleased to find the desert wanted to stick with her...
Get it?  Stick?  Bwahahaha...  Sorry...
After I checked to make sure the ground was clear of deer poop and twigs, we sat down to take a break.
Da Momma forgot my cushion...  I haz to sit on my fuzzy tail...
Of course, Harlow needed some nourishment.
Any chicken jerky in here?  Da Shawnee always eats chicken jerky.
After a while we headed back...
Dis wouldn't be so bad if it waz carpeted...
I'm hoping next time we will make it out of my Mom's driveway.
Harlow swears we hiked miles...
;)

  1. Your ending really made me laugh! It's amazing how fast each of our puppies learns about cacti. I bet that Harlow is ready for next time.

  3. Hahahah! Although we are VERY impressed with the Frosty Paws knapsack! Poor Harlow - we could tell from that first photo that something had dramatized you! Hopefully you'll make sure your servants are better prepared for all contingencies next time, because hiking really can be fun!

  5. Poor Harlow. Momma has told me about all those sticky things in the desert, but I never get to go to AZ with them so I've never gotten stuck by one. You should come visit me in Virginia -- hiking isn't quite so scary here!

  6. So, Harlow, do tell, she DID has chikun jerky in there, did she not? How can a dog has energies to hike with no chikun jerky? If'n she did not, it would so totally explain why you did not make it out of your driveway. So live and learn, next time don't leaves home without it! As far as floof flying and stuffs getting stuck in it, well, I cannot helps you there seeing as I has no floof. Sorry.

    1. Hi Shawnee! Yes, she did - she wanted to make sure she followed the professionals on her first trip. :)

  7. Great hike, Harlow. You should come hike the NC mountains with us. No cacti and lots of soft leaves almost like carpet.

  13. Looks like a fun outing. Watch out for something my Mom calls Aunt Hills. I'm not quite sure what that is but she said her brother sat on one when they were little and it didn't go well (and then they would both laugh).

  17. Maybe your princess and my princess, Sandy Pawz, should hang out. She doesn't like leaving either, and fully expects to be carried when she does leave!
