What's in a name? Trivia Tuesday...

Recently, Mitch and Molly posted about Molly's official name - Molly Pitcher Canonball!  We think the name is great!  I commented on the blog that Sam is just Cafall's Sam.  Yes, I know very imaginative!
This the best you could come up with Mom?

For those of you that have e-mailed me - you'll notice my e-mail also uses "Cafall".  I'm embarrassed to admit I am a little bit nerdy and growing up read a lot on King Arthur (which may explain the Friesian horses...) and the Susan Cooper series "The Dark is Rising".  Cafall was believed to be the brave and loyal dog belonging to King Arthur.  Supposedly in Cefn Carn Cafall (roughly translates to Cafall's Ridge or the Cairn of Cafall), which is a mountainside in Breconshire, you can find the paw print of Cafall left there during King Arthur's hunt after the wild boar.  Legend has it that whenever the stone with the print is taking away it mysteriously returns there.  In the book by Susan Cooper, Cafall is the dog belonging to Bran Davies, King Arthur's son.
I'm named after King Arthur's dog?  Excellent....

...and yes, I'm full of useless trivia!  I'm practicing for my run on Jeopardy!  BOL!

  13. That's cool!
I don't know the story of my name. When mom and dad adopted me, they kept my name. Actually my name was Junebug but they just call me June. Come to think of it, they never call me June, it is always JuneJune.

  14. That's pretty cool to be named after King Arthur's dog!!! (way cooler than being named after a country music star)

My full name is Canvasback Thunder Rolls at Brookhaven - after the Garth Brooks song "Thunder Rolls" (mom really hates that song). Mom and dad planned to change my name to Riley when I came to live with them, but never got around to it, so I became Garth Riley.

    your pal,
    Garth

  16. I love your name and your explanation! Our new dog, Shyla, used to have a very long and complicated name. Now she's just KB's Shyla although I suspect that she'll be getting lots of nicknames!
