When Monty first came to our house, we gave him a blue fuzzy blanket to keep in his crate. Little did we know he would form a very tight attachment to this blanket, whom we dubbed "Wendella". Wendella is a huge part of our household - Monty drags her outside, he carries her into the living room in the morning and makes sure to take her back to bed with him. Needless to say, after over two years of being well loved, washed endlessly and caught on every piece of furniture available, Wendella was showing her age.

Wendella is bootiful! |
This morning, Wendella underwent surgery to see if she could be saved. It was touch and go, and we are pretty sure her career as a swimsuit model is over, but she is expected to make it. Needless to say, it was a very stressful morning for Monty.

Monty and Wendella - resting after surgery... |
Wow thats a long lifespan for a blanket!

Oh my, thank goodness Wendella is alright after her surgery! She looks incredible for her age, even now! ;-D
ReplyDeleteYay! Wendella lives! That is so funny how they become attached to a specific thing and don't wreck it. Fred has a blue dog we call "Ole Blue" that we had waiting for him when we brought him home as a pup. It's the only toy he hasn't ripped apart! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful....! We're happy the surgery was successful. Here's to a long, happy life, Wendella.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
I completely understand this precarious position! Hope the surgery went ok!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Monty! That's great - it looks like Wendella is well on her way to a full recovery! Some of my toys have had to see the surgeon here, so I know how scary it can be! You must have a very gifted surgical team there!
ReplyDeleteLuv,
Dave
You could always change his name to Linus! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable post! I loved how you said that Wendella had to have surgery and that is was "touch and go" for awhile! Very clever! So amazed Wendella is still intact after so much wear and tear!
ReplyDeleteThat is super sweet. We've learned to have a backup special 'whatever' so there is less stress if something happens to toys, etc
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a pawsome blue blanket.

Monty I know how you feel. I love my blankie. But after 3 years even surgry could not help. MOM did get me a new one, but I kept pulling my old one out of the recycle bin. But finally I warmed up to the new one. Glad your Wendella survived to bring comfort for another day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
I find it so sweet that Monty has a blankie! I'm glad his Wendella was saved!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness she's ok! Shelby tries to kill my hedgehogs all the time. At least no one is trying to kill her!
ReplyDelete~Milly (and Shelby)
Monty doesn't care a hoot if Wendella has lost her figure. She still has her wonderful comforting personality.
ReplyDeleteOMD that is the cutest thing ever! My daughter's (age 33) still have their 'blankies' which they dragged all over the place, they've both told me their blankie is folded up and safe in one of their dresser drawers. :-) I think when they aren't feeling well they might actually pull blankie out....LOL I have never heard of a dog doing this. Monty is A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet. Go Wendella!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet is this!! Thank goodness Wendella is on the mend... :-)
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad Wendella came through the surgery okay! Whew! Kuster just takes blankets and shreds them into confetti. Boys!
ReplyDeleteBunny
That blankie looks so soft and comfy, no wonder he loves it. Ciara has a pretty pink one that Jo and Stella made for her. Mom is amazed that Mr. Jaws of Steel Lightning hasn't ruined it yet. But it is still in great shape.
ReplyDeletePleasant dreams, Monty.
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
So glad to hear Wendella pulled through. Poor Monty looks like he would be devastated by losing her.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.

It's a good thing that Wendella made it...that could be pretty traumatic otherwise!

ReplyDeletebtw, asa has a special blanket, too. it's almost 8 yrs old and riddled with holes, but she refuses to give it up. we tried to give her a new blanket awhile back, and she wouldn't have anything to do with it!

ReplyDeleteThat Wendella looks awful soft and comfy!
ReplyDeleteWe hope Wendella heals well and has many more years with Monty!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,

So sweet! Our Tucker had a Wendella, but eventually it succumbed to old age and too much nibbleting :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad Wendella made it through the surgery. We are sure Monty is relieved. Have a super Sunday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly.
Whew! Glad Wendella is going to make it.
ReplyDeleteI had a blanket as a baby that I went to bed with every night, right thru college! When I was in my 20's I left it behind at a hotel. I went back and asked them to search their laundry and the room, but it was nowhere to be found. I was devastated. Still am!
That is so funny Sam, you take your blankie with you..So sweet. Wez glad Wendella can be saved :) xx00xx

ReplyDeleteaww, so sweet & cute! One of our foster babies from earlier this year, Maverick, still drags his snuggie that I sent him home with to bed every night!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That was tense reading about Wendella!! :-) Poor Monty...but glad it all turned out OK. Long live Wendella! :-)
