Happy 4th of July and our thoughts on a RAW diet...

Happy 4th of July!  We hope you all have a wonderful day! 

...and oldie but goodie...

If you have been following us on Facebook, you will know that I've been attempting to try a RAW diet with our boys.  We've had a few success, but mostly failures.  Monty, for example, has been horrified that we expect him to eat raw food....

It was cold, and didn't have any spices, and it was like bleh!

Sam, on the other hand, has been at least willing to try what we are offering...

I ate a sardine and I liked it....

Why are we trying RAW?  Well, we are trying to improve the quality of what the boys are getting, find something Monty will actually eat, and give our boys a more natural diet.  I know the first thing everyone thinks of when they think of RAW are large packs of wild Golden Retriever's taking down a moose...  In fact, the thought was so disturbing I had to illustrate it.  Don't look if you are squeamish!

We will keep trying.  Although, like the time we went on the all juice diet, I think this might take years for Monty to recover from trying a RAW diet...

The horrors I've seen...

If you ask Monty, he will tell you he has nothing to play with.  Since I spend most of my day picking up after him, I'd like to present "Exhibit A"...

Dog Bling...

Today was bath day for the boys.  Their collars also get washed as there is no point in putting dirty clothes on a clean dog.

Address Tags, Bling Name tags, County tags, heavy duty hook, Odd little beady thing - yup, it's all there...

We've come to terms with the fact that they will never make it through airport security... 

Our BarkBox arrived!

Recently, I signed the boys up to start receiving BarkBox's - which come highly recommended by several other bloggers!  What is a BarkBox?  A BarkBox is a package you receive once a month full of doggy goodies - you never know what you will receive which adds to the fun!

The boys were intrigued!

So what did our BarkBox contain?

One Stella and Chewy's Freeze-Dried Dinner, which Monty loved!

A package of Double Nut Super Boost (which Mom was tempted to try - they smell good!)

A Gimme Gummy toy - Monty claimed this before we got it out of the package.

A coupon for Stella and Chewy's and this summer information card.

A doggy smoothie - Sam loved it!

...and a Soggy Paws Super Absorbent Towel....

...which Sam immediately tried to hide - we've mentioned the four letter B word around him a few times this week.

We absolutely loved our first box and can't wait for the next one to come!  We got a nice mix of toys, treats, and a very useful (Sam would disagree) grooming tool!  We highly recommend Barkbox's!

Boring, boring, boring...

Okay, it's too hot here.  The boys haven't been out and they are bored to death.  Also, it makes for boring blog posts.  Whine, whine, whine...

Sam spends all day snoozing....

zzzzzz.....

Monty has played twice with every toy he owns and has nothing left to do but suck on his pillow....

This was about twenty minutes before he decided it looked better inside out...

Any suggestions?

Garage Dog...

We always thought Monty would be our garage dog.  He loves playing in there and investigating and thinks it makes a great club house.  However, we found out he is okay in there as long as no work is going on.  The second that starts happening he lets himself back into the house. 

So it turns out Sam is our garage dog. 

Hehehe...  I'm doing something Monty isn't!

If you see my crazy eye, it just means I'm watching you!

We are way behind on this bike!  We need to work on your time management skills!

This is the best....

Since Sam is such a great manager, we are making tremendous progress on our projects.  ...and he doesn't seem to mind getting a little grease in his fur.  Although, we haven't told him yet this means it is time for another b-a-t-h!

Busy, busy, busy...

We've had a couple of busy weeks again - I'm traveling for work more often and getting opportunities to visit some of my favorite National Parks!

I had the honor of being able to attend a couple of significant events at the parks I work for.  First off, a ribbon cutting ceremony at Tumacacori National Historical Park to celebrate the completion of their new ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) trail.  This trail will allow all visitors to now visit the church, the lime kiln and the historic orchard with ease.

All together now....  Snip!

Pictures will never do this beautiful park justice.  If you are ever traveling through southeastern Arizona, make sure to leave time to stop by.  You will truly be amazed!

Our next event was at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument to attend the opening of their new rammed-earth constructed theater and the unveiling of the documentary video of the early people of Casa Grande.  They did an awesome job with both!

Our boys are waiting for our next big adventure.  How are we going to top "Bark in the Park"?  We still haven't figured it out yet - temperature here in AZ are soaring over 110 and our outdoor activities are limited.

Sam's thinking these paws will never be used again!

Monty did de-floof his bed, which is evident by the acres of green cotton that never seem to end.  I'm not kidding, I've picked up three garbage bags of this stuff and every time I turn around there is more!
