Think of Sam?

If you all wouldn't mind, could you think of Sam tomorrow?  We are bringing him to Dr Kerne to get four bumps removed.  We've had this done before, but I worry all the same.

I don't want to go....
I don't want him to go either!

The War on Floof Continues...

Look sharp, men, it's coming!
Fire at will!
It's here, sir!
Charge!
It has Johnson!
It's trying to surround us, Sir!
For the love of Dog - it's the Mother Ship!
Sigh...  I think I'm the only normal one in this house....
Most days I feel like Johnson!

In which we finally do something exciting...

Exciting news - our boys did not get a bath for nothing!  We packed up the car, the boys, and their leashes and took them to the cool pines of northern Arizona.
I hope you don't mind a lot of pictures!
We decided to make it a little easier on ourselves and rent a cabin, which I think Monty appreciated - he isn't fond of roughing it.
I'm not talking to you...
It was nice to get out of the heat and dust of the valley and see something green for a change!
Dad and his boys
...and wet!
You are seeing correctly - that is Sam in WATER!
He really seemed to like the creek:
Splash, splash, splash...
We even found a little dog park where we could let Monty run off leash!  This was a rare treat for our boy.
I is a wolf....

The brothers....
Playing catch...
This is great!
...and of course, there had to be a photo-bomb somewhere in all the photos.
Monty, you've got something stuck to your head...
Even Sam enjoyed the dog park!
I'm loving this!

The boys enjoyed resting in our cabin in the evening.
Especially Sam, who takes begging seriously:
Don't try this at home - I'm an expert...
We spent a lot of time on the front porch listening to the wind in the trees.
It blows my butt furs something fierce too!
We had a little restaurant nearby where we could get dinner:
We want fries with our hamburgers, Mom!

We got lot of hiking in:
...but it didn't matter where we went - it was all gorgeous!
The path to the dog park.
We took time to enjoy the scenery!
At the See Canyon Trail Head
We had two very happy boys!
Monty
Sam
...and a very happy family!
If you look closely you can see Monty between us!

Something's up...

Mom say we got baths because we will be doing something fun...

...but we think it is just a trick.  We don't believe her!

Wendella Lives!

When Monty first came to our house, we gave him a blue fuzzy blanket to keep in his crate.  Little did we know he would form a very tight attachment to this blanket, whom we dubbed "Wendella".  Wendella is a huge part of our household - Monty drags her outside, he carries her into the living room in the morning and makes sure to take her back to bed with him.  Needless to say, after over two years of being well loved, washed endlessly and caught on every piece of furniture available, Wendella was showing her age.
Wendella is bootiful!

This morning, Wendella underwent surgery to see if she could be saved.  It was touch and go, and we are pretty sure her career as a swimsuit model is over, but she is expected to make it.  Needless to say, it was a very stressful morning for Monty.

Come on, cool weather!

Finally!  Our temperatures will be dropping below 100 this week.  The boys are thrilled!
When will it ever end?
It's almost time to break out the parkas!
Don't forget my sweater, Mom!

Big News! Sam the Therapy Dog!

We have some exciting news to share!  We took Sam for a TDI (Therapy Dog International) test this morning and he passed!  Our Sam is now a therapy dog!
I'm ready to share the love!
I'll admit, I was a bit nervous, which is why I hadn't mentioned on the blog we were attempting this.  There were two parts of this test that we were worried about.  The first was a 3 minute stay where I had to leave the room.  Sam hates to be separated from me, but he passed this part with flying colors!  The second, which most of the other dogs where failing at, was ignoring food on the ground.  They tossed chicken in front of Sam and he walked over it twice without even looking at it.  The evaluators were amazed that a Golden would ignore food.  Shoot, I was amazed Sam ignored the food.

Sam is getting a well earned nap right now - both Monty and he have had treats to celebrate and lots of loving.
