Agility Star!

We've entered Monty in a basic agility class.  This is our second class (sorry the picture is so blurry - it was dark by the time class started), and despite our worries, Monty is doing fine!

Monty and Mom having a serious discussion...

What were our worries?  Well, Monty is not food oriented and toys can be very distracting to him.  In fact, the only thing that motivates Monty is Monty!  As long as I make it seem like it was his idea all along, he does great!

  7. Agility looks like so much fun, Mom would love to do it with one of us, but her bones are too rickety for her to take a chance. We bet Mom and Monty do very well together.

  11. Hi Monty,
Dave and I aren't food motivated at all either. Basically, if we think something's cool, we'll do it. Otherwise ... it's a no-go. Hope you enjoy agility! I think it could be a blast!

PS: I'm not sure what that skid steer is doing in front of our house, but some guy stole part of our driveway today! I sure hope mom and dad know about this!

  12. Agility is great fun! I am the only one (that we know) in the WDA who has any experience. Monty will be perfect because in the long run, it is only about your inner stride and rhythm...the clock, not so much for me.

  14. Hey Monty, we have been out of touch for a while. It was great to come back and see you were working in agility.

I bet you become the best ever agility dog.....If you want to.... cause like your humans said.

It has to be your idea...

More pictures of you in action would be great.

  15. I like that sport too :)
I like lots of praise and cheering...you know, like "way to go Doodle Bug"!
I can jump and run up ramps and through tunnels all day long, if you say, "Way to go, Doodle Bug!"

  20. I tried Rally! I even competed once. I qualified and even got the blue ribbon (I was the only dog in the class). Mommy says this is not really my thing though. She wants to try Freestyle with me soon. Good luck Monty!

  22. Not food motivated? Wow Monty - you are my role model :) Good job with your agilities!

  23. My not very food motivated dog really liked Cesar dog food...the soft stinky kind. An agility trainer introduced me to it, and it worked. I used a clear plastic tube from a camping supply store and dispensed it to from that. Good luck with agility. It's a lot of fun!
