Poor Monty - he has his paws full without Harlow there. This week, he will be doing our chewy.com review!

Now as you know, our Monty is amazingly finicky when it comes to what he eats. It's not unusual for him to skip several days or turn his nose up to a fresh bowl of kibble. When we saw that chewy.com was offering a can of their Merrick Back Country Grain Free canned food - we jumped at a chance to try it.
Aaron's comment regarding this product was that it smelled good enough for him to eat! He mixed 1/3 of the can with Monty's regular kibble and set it down to see what the boy would do.
|
Actual real chicken - not those strange chicken-y squares you usually see. |
Another thing that Aaron noted was that after refrigeration, the product had congealed meaning that the contents are closer to natural - there is real fat in the product. He had been feeding Monty the contents of another canned food that never congealed.
|
Heating up the product for feeding on day two. |
To our delight, Monty scarfed up his meal in no time flat. Usually, even with canned food added, he leaves a portion of his meal untouched.
|
Nom nom nom... |
He really enjoyed it!
|
*burp* |
He even licked out his dish!
|
Any left? |
This is one of the products that we will definitely plan to purchase in the future! Thank you, chewy.com!
canned dog food has come a long way - it is so much better then it use to be
ReplyDeleteBetter than the old dog chow... :)
ReplyDeleteFunny; we've been looking for some grain-free canned food for Abby (and thus also Fi) and she is so hit or miss on what she likes. She liked the Merrick Backcountry beef stew, but wouldn't touch the chicken. It's to the point where I'm keeping a spreadsheet (really) of what she likes and doesn't like, so I can (eventually) know what she likes and doesn't like. That said, I've been wildly happy with the quality of all the Merrick canned food - but apparently for Abby, quality doesn't necessarily translate into yummy. (She's wildly picky, too....).
ReplyDelete- Dr. Liz (and not Fiona, who happily eats EVERYTHING - especially the stuff her sister doesn't eat).
GReat job with the khleaning!

Khyra
Woo hoo - love finding food they love!
ReplyDeleteThat stuff is tasty!

We never leave anything in our dishes....Roxy won't eat plain kibble, so on the nights when we ONE-SIXTH of a tin (grain free) on our kibble, SHE heats it in the microwave so it melts and can coat the kibble.
ReplyDeleteWe think we'd like that stuff.
Wow - that must be really tasty foodables to get you to clean your plate, Monty! We need to try it out!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots♥
Mitch and Molly
You sold me! Sounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard for me to imagine a Golden who is a picky eater. Our Lucy bolts her food so fast we had to buy a special feeding dish to slow her down. We've changed her dog food a couple of times and she doesn't care what she gets; she will eat it.
ReplyDeleteNice job Monty! We posted about our gift box today. Thank you so much, and thank you to Harlow too. It is so awesome! So many goodies, we really hit the jackpot!
