Gotcha Day!

Today we took the boys to AZGRC's 2010 Gotcha Day. Let me tell you, it almost didn't happen. The boys were so excited they got themselves in a lot of trouble before we ever left the house!

The event was held at Vista Del Camino Park in Scottsdale. This is a beautiful park with nice shade trees, grassy areas to sit and play, and a very tempting duck pond!

One of the best things about Gotcha Day is seeing all the Golden Retrievers! Nearly all of these are rescues, and every single one is happy and well loved.

Just look how happy they are!

As usual, they had games to play too! We got there a little too late to play musical chairs, but I did try the ball toss with Monty. We managed 2 catches in 60 seconds. Let's just say we didn't win, but we had a lot of fun!

I'm not sure, but I think Monty might need glasses. His hand-ball-mouth coordination is a little off.

After that, Mom wandered off for refreshments. Dad call this the triple fanny shot.

Coming back with sodas...

While we were resting, we watched some of the other dogs. We thought this one looked rather dignified...

...and this one was really enjoying himself!

We also tried Bobbing for Hot dogs again. We didn't get any pictures, but Sam managed to do it in 11.99 seconds. Monty wouldn't even put his head in the water. Sam didn't seem upset by this - he got to eat Monty's hot dog!

Monty and Sam got lots of attention. Monty got some loving - which he adored!

...and Sam was quite happy begging for brats and barbecue!

Gotcha Day never lasts long, and soon we were heading home! The boys had a wonderful time, and so did we!

The Day After

Hi, all! Monty and Sam hope everyone enjoyed our "13 Days of Halloween" series. The boys want everyone to know that they have made it through the series unscathed, and thought you might like to see a few pictures to make sure they are okay!

First off, here is Monty. I took these photos during their midday nap time. Monty takes this very seriously and doesn't appreciate the camera interrupting him!

Do you know what time it is?

I'm trying to sleep here!

All right, take a picture...

Sam usually takes this time to collect all the tennis balls that Monty has stolen from him.

Can we lock these up somewhere, Mom?

...but, he does get some snoozing in too!

I sure hope my nose is clean!

Next weekend is AZGRC's Gotcha Day! AZGRC is celebrating 10 years of successfully finding homes for Golden's in need! We are planning to bring Sam and Monty and should have some great pictures to post.

13 Days of Halloween, "I think we've all arrived at a very special place. Spiritually, ecumenically, grammatically."

Day 13! Happy Halloween!! (OK, that's enough exclamation points to last until this time next year, at least.)

Ed. note - after yesterday's fiasco, this one was done for the Mom's benefit.

"You are without doubt the worst pirate I've ever heard of." "But you have heard of me."

Ed. Note - The following are some that I've had a few years, just taking up space in my thumb drive...thought I'd throw 'em out for S&G's.

"How I lost my leg."

Morlock and Eloi, the love that dare not speak it's name...

No matter where you stand on the Ginger or Mary Ann, Mansfield vs. Monroe spectrum, ya gotta admit, these gals are sizzlin'. (I so wanted to use an exclamation point at the end of that sentence... regardless, I think the one in the pic should be considered a freebie, so to speak.)

Management would like to express our appreciation for your patience over the past couple of weeks. We'll be returning to our regular programing soon, and hope to see you with us. Thank you.

13 Days of Halloween, "Sense. This picture makes none."

Day 12 of 13 (Gollum's over-served Koko on the Banana Daiquiris again.)

"I have no idea what the guy who edits these things was thinking with this post...Monty and I asked for something a little more fun, you know, instead of another scary one? And this is what he comes up with? And I know this isn't exactly a documentary we're doing here, but where in the heck did Gollum get a light saber?"

"I'll see if I can get Monty and Mom to lean on him; after all, we only have one day left on this series...."

Ed. Note - Hah! I like it just the way it is! Nothin' wrong with a little crazy this time of year.

13 Days of Halloween, "The Silence of the Lambchops"

Day 11 of 13 (First principles, Clarice. Simplicity. Read Marcus Aurelius. Of each particular thing ask: what is it in itself? What is its nature?)

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his used Kleenex with some fava beans and a nice drink from the toilet bowl.

13 Days of Halloween, "The machines rose from the ashes of the nuclear fire..."

Day 10 of 13 (Posted a little early just so I could yell, Run Sarah, RUN!!!)

Listen, and understand. The Saminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead (or you give him a treat).

It's not a pet - it's a machine. A Cyberdog Systems Model 101.

You still don't get it, do you? He'll find you! That's what he does! It's ALL he does! You can't stop him! He'll wade through you! He'll reach down your throat and tear your livin' heart out (unless, you know, you distract him with a tennis ball or something)!
