Poor Sam

Well, here we go again. We brought Sam to the vet this morning to investigate several lumps that have appeared recently. Dr. Kerne poked and prodded, and decided that while worrisome, considering Sam's history, they weren't anything too serious. Then we showed her a different lump on his leg and she decided they were more worrisome than originally thought. Sam is now scheduled for surgery next Thursday to have all the lumps removed.

Despite his Mom's worries, Sam stays happy.

Even though he's now sporting a few bald patches.

We don't know what to think of it...

Sam gets Mail

A while back, Luna held a giveaway for a sample of Clean+Green Carpet & Upholstery cleaner. Being the humans of two active and somewhat messy boys, we decided to enter the contest and were on of three lucky winners!

Our sample arrived in the mail, and since it was addressed to Sam we gave it to him to open.

I got a package?

Can we share it, Mom?

Hmmm, what is in here?

Wow! There sure is a lot of packaging!

I've got to get it all out of here!

The boys of course weren't sure what to do with a can of carpet cleaner, so Sam proceeded to do the next best thing: Shred the box!

The can came with two full pages of helpful cleaning tips. We aren't giving the boys permission to make a mess, but we will definately try it out on the next one!

Thank you, Clean+Green! Thank you, Luna!

A Moment of Mayhem

Many of you have mentioned in the comments of our previous posts that you would like to know just what mischief the boys got themselves into that almost prevented us from taking them with. Well, we are prepared to reveal to you the horrible events that unfolded yesterday morning. Please, be prepared, you have been warned.

First of all, a photo of the accused. On the left, Sam aka "The Shredder", and on the right Monty, aka "Mr Mayhem". Oh, yes, we've been aware of these two for some time. They have quite a history with our detectives. Don't be fooled by their innocent faces.

Next, we take you to the scene of this horrific crime. Let me take you back. It's a peaceful Arizona morning in a small, quiet suburb. Life is going on as usual. However, on this particular morning, one Doggy Mom makes the decision to wash the slipcovers of the doggy beds. She piles the inner cushions on the pool room sofa, throws the covers in the washer, and begins preparing for the days planned events. Somewhere between 8am and 9am, this horrific crime occurred. I now present you with photos from the crime scene.

Exhibit A - This photo clearly shows the cotton spatter after the horrific attack occurred. On the top left of the photo, you can see the body of the first victim.

Exhibit B - Prosecutors would like to point out the cotton spatter went as high as the pool table.

And our final argument, Exhibit C - The victims have been removed from the scene of the crime. They were rushed to ER, but nothing could be done to help them at this point.

"It could be anyone," you say? Our surveillance teams captured footage of one of the suspects returning to the scene of the crime. Even though this photo is a bit blurry, it is undeniable proof of who the culprits are.

Gotcha Day!

Today we took the boys to AZGRC's 2010 Gotcha Day. Let me tell you, it almost didn't happen. The boys were so excited they got themselves in a lot of trouble before we ever left the house!

The event was held at Vista Del Camino Park in Scottsdale. This is a beautiful park with nice shade trees, grassy areas to sit and play, and a very tempting duck pond!

One of the best things about Gotcha Day is seeing all the Golden Retrievers! Nearly all of these are rescues, and every single one is happy and well loved.

Just look how happy they are!

As usual, they had games to play too! We got there a little too late to play musical chairs, but I did try the ball toss with Monty. We managed 2 catches in 60 seconds. Let's just say we didn't win, but we had a lot of fun!

I'm not sure, but I think Monty might need glasses. His hand-ball-mouth coordination is a little off.

After that, Mom wandered off for refreshments. Dad call this the triple fanny shot.

Coming back with sodas...

While we were resting, we watched some of the other dogs. We thought this one looked rather dignified...

...and this one was really enjoying himself!

We also tried Bobbing for Hot dogs again. We didn't get any pictures, but Sam managed to do it in 11.99 seconds. Monty wouldn't even put his head in the water. Sam didn't seem upset by this - he got to eat Monty's hot dog!

Monty and Sam got lots of attention. Monty got some loving - which he adored!

...and Sam was quite happy begging for brats and barbecue!

Gotcha Day never lasts long, and soon we were heading home! The boys had a wonderful time, and so did we!

The Day After

Hi, all! Monty and Sam hope everyone enjoyed our "13 Days of Halloween" series. The boys want everyone to know that they have made it through the series unscathed, and thought you might like to see a few pictures to make sure they are okay!

First off, here is Monty. I took these photos during their midday nap time. Monty takes this very seriously and doesn't appreciate the camera interrupting him!

Do you know what time it is?

I'm trying to sleep here!

All right, take a picture...

Sam usually takes this time to collect all the tennis balls that Monty has stolen from him.

Can we lock these up somewhere, Mom?

...but, he does get some snoozing in too!

I sure hope my nose is clean!

Next weekend is AZGRC's Gotcha Day! AZGRC is celebrating 10 years of successfully finding homes for Golden's in need! We are planning to bring Sam and Monty and should have some great pictures to post.
