Visiting Cody, Wyoming

Last weekend Harlow and I headed out to spend a couple of days with Aaron's Uncle Tommy.  This was our first trip to Cody and I'll admit - I played tourist on the way.  What should have taken us only three and a half hours to us nearly 6!

It didn't take long for Harlow to settle in at Tommy's....
This puppy is too long to fit into photos.  Good thing I've got a "panoramic" setting.  :)
She also tried to bond with Tommy's cat...
Chaos in 5... 4... 3...
Of course our daily walks had to continue.  Cody was an interesting town to explore.  To Harlow's delight, it was full of rabbits and deer....
I see you dere, dear!
Of course, we needed a photo of the iconic Irma Hotel.
An iconic dog in front of an iconic landmark - how iconic!  Or is that ironic?
Harlow got a little off leash time too, much to her delight.  The local school yard was dog friendly!

She made sure to pause for photos...
I iz beautiful!
As an added bonus, Uncle Tommy really adored her and even made her breakfast!
Nom nom nom....
...and yes, she got seconds!  She ate so much she had to loosen her collar a bit.
Iz stuffed, da Momma.  Carry da Harlow to da car, okay?
Tommy gave me directions to see more of Wyoming on our return trip, and I managed to snag this picture of Harlow by a lake.
Very scerene...
Our trip to Cody was a lot of fun and we look forward to visiting again!

Monty Monday - the trouble with cats....

Our neighborhood has had a bumper crop of feral cats this year.  It isn't unusual to go out in the morning and find a half dozen doing their business in the yard.  It doesn't help that the gal down the street lets her own unfixed feline out and contributes quite heavily to the cat population each year.

...and of course, where there are too many of anything, they bring along all their problems.  In this case, we've had a manifestation of ticks!

Aaron has been diligently fighting back against them treating the yard and house, vacuuming, spraying...  Monty, unfortunately, has become a victim to the little blood thirsty pests.  Every night, Aaron performs a full body inspection on Monty.  Monty takes these inspections quite stoically and seem to enjoy them.

Hey!  You missed a spot!

Happy Goldens

Last Friday I mentioned that I noticed Harlow makes friends quickly.  She is always happy to meet new people and new pups - and is especially happy when her new friends are of the Golden variety.  She has super excited to meet this nice girl and her puppy friend!
Hi dere, pups that look like da Princess!
She couldn't wait to catch up on gossip...
You don't say....
To become all jumbled together...
We iz a Golden dog pile....

...and to show off her extreme silliness....
I iz silly pup!
Of course, after we said our good byes, we couldn't have been more surprised to walk down the trail and discover a Monty look-alike!
Monty, iz dat you?

Monty Monday - Monty does the Chewy review!

Poor Monty - he has his paws full without Harlow there.  This week, he will be doing our chewy.com review!

Disclaimer:  How Sam Sees it has not been compensated for this product review. We received a product to review.  We have no connection with the brand and were not influenced in our opinions. Our opinions are strictly our own.

Now as you know, our Monty is amazingly finicky when it comes to what he eats.  It's not unusual for him to skip several days or turn his nose up to a fresh bowl of kibble.  When we saw that chewy.com was offering a can of their Merrick Back Country Grain Free canned food - we jumped at a chance to try it.

Aaron's comment regarding this product was that it smelled good enough for him to eat!
He mixed 1/3 of the can with Monty's regular kibble and set it down to see what the boy would do.
Actual real chicken - not those strange chicken-y squares you usually see.
Another thing that Aaron noted was that after refrigeration, the product had congealed meaning that the contents are closer to natural -  there is real fat in the product.  He had been feeding Monty the contents of another canned food that never congealed.
Heating up the product for feeding on day two.
To our delight, Monty scarfed up his meal in no time flat.  Usually, even with canned food added, he leaves a portion of his meal untouched.
Nom nom nom...
He really enjoyed it!
*burp*
He even licked out his dish!
Any left?
This is one of the products that we will definitely plan to purchase in the future!  Thank you, chewy.com!

What I've learned about Harlow

Traveling with a dog for a long period of time has its own set of challenges.  Our place in Colter Bay doesn't have a fenced in yard, and park rules forbid off-leash dogs, so Harlow is 100% dependent on me for her exercise and entertainment.  I've learned a few things about Harlow that I've never noticed before...

She likes to run through tall grass....
Okay, da Momma, I iz getting ready for da zoomies.
When she needs a nap, she really needs a nap....
Zzzzzzz.....
She makes friends easily, both human and pups....
Garth Riley, iz dat you?
Most flowers are taller than her....
Da Momma, dese posies are blocking da Harlow's view!
She really was an excessive wriggle to her walk....

She has a funny sense of humor...
Dis tall fellow don't say much, da Momma.  Hehehe....
She truly is the happiest dog around...
Dis my happy face.
I've really enjoyed having her with me.  She is always up for adventure and makes me smile a dozen times a day.  I really think she is enjoying herself too!
