Parsley from
Seasons of My Mind has been posting pictures of the beautiful cross stitches she has been making. When I commented on how it made me want to get back into them (I did them a long time ago), Parsley was so wonderful and sent me a pattern, thread and fabric. I couldn't wait to get started, but I had one small problem...
I couldn't remember how to start! Parsley has come to my rescue, offering tips and tricks and bucket loads of patience, but I am embarrassed to say I had to go to the hobby store and buy a starter kit with step by step instructions.
|
Seriously, Mom? |
There is a perk to my apparent lack of memory - I now have two kits to do!
|
I do not know the lady holding the camera.... |
I've now gotten started on the pattern Parsley has sent me. I'm enjoying watching the design emerge and am already looking forward to my next pattern.
|
The pattern is French Country Dog. I'm a little farther along then it shows in this picture. |
Parsley had one request - that I send this pattern on, to pay it forward. Would anyone be interested in trying their hand at cross stitching? I should be done with this one in a couple of days and can send it on.
SHE is hopeless at craft and sewing. Huge uneven sutures on de-stuffed toys is about HER speed. We're sure there are some talented people out there that would love it.

We used to do some cross stitching back in the day too! Yours is really taking shape!
ReplyDeleteI haven't cross stitched in years, but funny, I was just thinking about it last week.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I have the time these days, plus I fear Chewy would try grabbing the thread every time I pull it thru! Lil' rascal.
Cross stitches. Hmmm. Primary school sewing class. Even with good eyes, I was not neat.
ReplyDeleteSam, is that you looking like grandpa? Sweet X
Sam we hope you are getting better pal. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I, too, have bought kits in the past. I always tended to buy ones that were too large and complicated and would eventually lose interest....These days I save my creative juices for photographs and my blog :-)
ReplyDeletePlease post pix of the finished product!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great!
ReplyDeleteMom does all her own sewing and clothes making, but she said, no done get me started, way to much other stuff to fix, with Dad's tearing his clothes up! Hummmmm.......wonder how many holes have we put in them playing!
ReplyDeleteTell Mom to have fun, and be sure to show her finished work!

Cross stitching?! Hmmm, that is one of the delicate skills that I don't have at all. LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou look great, Sam!
My MOM use to do cross stitch too. She loved it. Not sure why she stopped. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Oh my! That looks hard to do....
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your cross stitching, that is something I don't think I could ever do!
ReplyDeleteI love the spec's Sam, and hope you are feeling better. How nice that was, to get sent a cross stitch set. Well get too it, we want to see the finished product..No pressure..BOL xx00xx

ReplyDeleteWOW... I can leave comments this morning...
I don't think I could sit still long enough to do that! I have always admired those that can - can't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! My mom loves sewing n cross stitch too. She would love it but not at the moment ... Golden LOVE to Sam. Just woofs to Monty. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that Parsley is helping you get back into cross-stitching. It looks like you've got the hang of it again too! I have never been good at that, I'll stick to crocheting. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI tried so hard at cross-stitching but im just retarded!! I even bought a starter kit that was for 8 year olds!!! I need the pattern printed on the fabric I think. I cant wait to see the end result!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like that! Funny, though - I though "cross stitching" was what Mom did in the quilt studio when she got ticked off about stuff. Ha roo roo roo!!
ReplyDeleteSam, you look SO SMART in your glasses!
Play bows,
Zim
Goodness, you've reminded me of something I did YEARS ago!, and enjoyed if memory serves me well. Looks like you are having renewed fun with this, good for you.
ReplyDeleteHappy stitching! Our Grammy just unloaded a bunch of those kits on our Mommy, but she doesn't do that tiny needle stuff...
ReplyDeleteZeus
I tried cross stitching years ago, but was never any good at it. Riley would be just as embarrassed as Sam if she saw me struggling to get started!! Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteElyse and Riley
How kind and thoughtful of Parsley!! I've never been able to cross stitch, but love the finished projects of my friends--I'll be anxious to see yours when it's done too!
ReplyDeleteI did that many years ago and haven't have time to really do any cross-stitching anymore. I have started an eagle a few years ago but never finish.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Mom hasn't done cross stitching in years!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
I used to cross-stitch but haven't in years. My daughter does beautiful pieces but I'll just stick to my knitting.
ReplyDeleteSam, can our Mom borrow your specs? She used to do cross stitch and crewel work but that was many years ago. Her eyesight isn't good enough any more for the small stitches.
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to see your finished kits.

Aww I used to cross stitch years ago, it was fun except when you mess up lol :)
ReplyDeleteStacy & Ellie
I adore that photo of Sam with the glasses!!!! You are very ambitious, and I bet that it will be fun!
ReplyDeleteMy fused neck precludes any close-up work like that so I'll have to enjoy yours!
I used to do a lot of cross stitch, too, but I don't seem to have the time for it that I used to. I love the dog pattern! That is so cute!
ReplyDeleteSam, we love the glasses!
Good luck with the cross stitch, I'm all paws BOL
ReplyDeleteI cross-stitched once. It wasn't pretty. How anyone can completely mess up cross-stitching is beyond me, but I did!
ReplyDeleteHey Boys - Come and visit my blog today. I have something there for you.
ReplyDeleteWags,
Ranger
Nice going! Have never done x-stitching but sure somebuddies' mommas would like to try!
ReplyDeleteHi Sam and Monty!

I asked My Vickie if she would liek to get the cross stitching thingy from you.
ReplyDeleteShe looked bewildered and asked me... What is Cross Stitching.
So I am thinking you don't need to consider her for the paying it forward.
Love
Bert
PS Thanks fo looking in your spam to find me.
