13 days of Halloween, "Bride of Frankenstein"

Day 4 of 13, (wherein the boys have a slight disagreement.)

But Sam, how come I gotta be the bride? It's demeaning. Besides, you're the one with the graying muzzle, so the wig would match you better than me anyway. You should be the one in this get-up.

C'Mon Monty, you're younger and slimmer, so you have to be the girl. I'm too beefy, too butch. You could even say I possess a frighteningly physicality, so I work better as the monster.

BOL! OH PLEASE! NO ONE looks at you and feels the least bit intimidated! Heck, just yesterday the cats were all calling you Tuna Can Sam!

...Now that hurts. And what the heck does that mean, anyway? I'm vicious, I can scare grown ups. Tuna Can Sam my fuzzy butt!

Yeah, yeah whatever you say...but if we get to do a vampire skit before this series ends, I'M the one who gets to be Dracula. You can be my sidekick Renfield. See how you like it...

13 days of Halloween, "The Wereman of Mesa"

To kick off the 1st of 13, a repeat from last year....

Full Moon approaching...

"I remember well the events which occurred when last that orb shone so brightly across the desert…and the horror that followed.”

“As its light streamed through the open window, I began to feel strange, twitching and snarling...”

“I dropped to the floor, unable to control my tremors...”

“…as a strange metamorphosis began to occur...”

“I cried out to my owner, What's happening to me? And thus she replied:”

“Even a dog who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night,

may become a man when the mandrake blooms,

and the autumn moon is bright."

Grand Canyon

Aaron and I decided to take a break this weekend and go camping at the Grand Canyon with the boys. What a great weekend! We have so many photos - it was hard to decide which ones to post.

Here are the boys when we first got there. We had to tie them out while we set up camp. Here is Monty - see the string hanging from his collar? That was our first attempt at tying him out. He quickly liberated himself and took off through the woods!

Here is Sam tied out. Monty liberated him too, but Sam had enough sense to stay with us.

Here is our home away from home.

Our boys weren't the only pups in the camp. We met a family travelling with their dogs and a couple of leash trained cats!

By the time we get camp set up, it was too late to do much more than eat dinner and sit around our campfire. I'll admit, the temperature at night fell to about 30 degrees, and we all spent a rather chilly night!

The next morning, however, we woke to a beautiful sight - the morning sun shining through the trees!

We spotted quite a bit of wildlife! Deer, squirrels, crows - we even had elk pass by our tent during the night. The boys couldn't get enough of snootering all the smells! Sam went a little crazy when he saw squirrels - he suddenly decided he was a great squirrel hunter!

We had to remind Sam of the rules of the National Park Service:

"I will not chase, harass or chew on the wildlife..."

After breakfast, we headed out to see the canyon and visit Grand Canyon Village. The boys, as usual, got quite a bit of attention wherever we took them! A nice couple took this picture of us. I wonder what Monty is thinking?

"I sure hope they don't blame this hole on me..."

The canyon was a little bit hazy, but it is still beautiful to look at!

Here we are on the way to the Watchtower.

The Watchtower.

Here I am enjoying the view with the boys.

It made for a long day, but everything we looked at and saw was so beautiful! We even managed to do something we thought was impossible - we wore out Monty!

Although, both of the boys were a little bit tired after our long day, and getting chilly! We were heading into another 30 degree night!

For the most part, the boys where all smiles. We think they really enjoyed themselves!

We had such a great time! We can't wait to go again!
