Aaron and I decided to take a break this weekend and go camping at the Grand Canyon with the boys. What a great weekend! We have so many photos - it was hard to decide which ones to post.
Here are the boys when we first got there. We had to tie them out while we set up camp. Here is Monty - see the string hanging from his collar? That was our first attempt at tying him out. He quickly liberated himself and took off through the woods!
Here is Sam tied out. Monty liberated him too, but Sam had enough sense to stay with us.
Here is our home away from home.
Our boys weren't the only pups in the camp. We met a family travelling with their dogs and a couple of leash trained cats!
By the time we get camp set up, it was too late to do much more than eat dinner and sit around our campfire. I'll admit, the temperature at night fell to about 30 degrees, and we all spent a rather chilly night!
The next morning, however, we woke to a beautiful sight - the morning sun shining through the trees!
We spotted quite a bit of wildlife! Deer, squirrels, crows - we even had elk pass by our tent during the night. The boys couldn't get enough of snootering all the smells! Sam went a little crazy when he saw squirrels - he suddenly decided he was a great squirrel hunter!
We had to remind Sam of the rules of the National Park Service:
"I will not chase, harass or chew on the wildlife..."
After breakfast, we headed out to see the canyon and visit Grand Canyon Village. The boys, as usual, got quite a bit of attention wherever we took them! A nice couple took this picture of us. I wonder what Monty is thinking?
"I sure hope they don't blame this hole on me..."
The canyon was a little bit hazy, but it is still beautiful to look at!
Here we are on the way to the Watchtower.
The Watchtower.
Here I am enjoying the view with the boys.
It made for a long day, but everything we looked at and saw was so beautiful! We even managed to do something we thought was impossible - we wore out Monty!
Although, both of the boys were a little bit tired after our long day, and getting chilly! We were heading into another 30 degree night!
For the most part, the boys where all smiles. We think they really enjoyed themselves!
We had such a great time! We can't wait to go again!
Oh you are so lucky. if I won the lottery that is my number one place I would love to vist, thanks for sharing, hope your going to put more photos up.

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful pictures. The boys sure look like they are having a grand ole time. Grand Canyon NP is truly awe inspiring. Having grown up in AZ, I have spent many days with the grown ups wandering around the rim and many more teen-age days hiking to Supai.
ReplyDeleteSo, Monty is a runner? I could see you guys in my minds eye dodging the Ponderosa Pines, chasing Monty. Actually sounds like fun.

We were at the canyon a few years ago. It was hazy then too, not like I remember it from 20-25 years ago. They say it's pollution. :-(
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun adventure and what beautiful pictures! We sure wish we could see the Grand Canyon in person! You guys are so lucky!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
What a pawsome trip you all had. The Grand Canyon! Wowee. I bet the boys had an incredible time.
ReplyDeletelotsa licks, Lola
Your Monty is a hoot! Ever since he has 'acquired' you, his stories of adventure make me laugh! So how did you catch him after he liberated himself?
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and weekend. I can almost feel the 30 degree nights.
What lucky boyz! It seems like the park service must have loosened their rules since we visited there about 15 yrs ago. We had to check the dogs at a kennel at the entrance to the park. They wouldn't even let us bring them in!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you held on tight to those leashes when so close to the edge. Imagine if a squirrel skittered over the edge...
What wonderful trip! I bet you all have a pawsome time!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures sure capture the beauty of the canyon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a "Grand" ;) trip! :)
ReplyDeleteHard to beat the Grand Canyon for a camping trip. One of the most incredible places in the world :)

Now THAT"S a hole!!! So furry beawootiful! Our bipeds stopped by there for just a couple hours on their honeymoon 14+ years ago - mom says thinking about it still gives her goosebumps!

What a superb weekend at the Grand Canyon!!! The fall colors must have been amazing! Sam and Monty looked like they were having super snooterings! Fall is such a fantastic time to camp....a bit on the crisp side, but less folks at the parks. Yay!

Wow! that looked like a fun trip. And 30 degree nights would make me and my girls frisky and put a smile on our face. Plus you got to see the Grand Canyon. What more could you want? Great pics.
