Dog Days of Summer #31 - Traveling

Unfortunately, I think I manage to do more traveling without the boys (for work) then we do with, but when we get a chance we like to take them camping...
They made us sleep in the dirt!
BOL - we do manage to take them with us locally, but I don't think a trip to Home Depot counts for traveling?  What do you think?

Dog Days of Summer #30 - Icecream/popsicles

Monty is the king of eating Frosty Paws.  Our boy seriously enjoys his frozen treats!
...although, he does need some help holding the cup!

Dog Days of Summer #29 - Favorite Photo

This was tough - I have so many pictures that are my favorites!

I thought I'd start off with this one.  This is a photo of Sam and my beloved girl, Cisco, who passed away a few years ago.
Cisco and Sam - a lady and a gentleman
Of course, I came across this one too...
Sam and Mom
Of course, since then Monty has joined our family!
Enjoying the view at the Grand Canyon
All Smiles!
I could have easily posted a couple dozen more!

Dog Days of Summer #28 - Running/Jumping

For today's topic, we decided to try a horse of a different color!

This is Baron, our Friesian stallion, showing off his best moves!

Look at me!

He's a high stepper!
...and of course:

Dog Days of Summer #27 - Eyes

We happen to think both of our boys have beautiful eyes, but Monty manages to be very expressive with his.  We dug through our archives and found this photo that makes us smile every time we see it...
Please can I has my toy?
Do you know how hard it is to resist those eyes?

August's Bark Box has arrived!

Our Bark Box has arrived!  This is now the third one we have received, and I think our boys are really starting to understand this box is just for them.

Come on, Mom!  Can we please open it?
This month's box was full of interesting surprises!  We had our usual treats...

The Elvis - Banana & Peanut Butter Turkey Bacon treats...
Milk-Bone Trail Mix
...and an antler!  Sam pulled the label off so quickly, I'm not sure where it came from!

Sam enjoying the antler - if you look closely, he has a little bit of the blue packing paper in the corner of his mouth.
What's this?
Monty was excited by this months toy - a pink Flying Pig!

This one is mine!
We are so happy with our Bark Box's!  We enjoy having them come in the mail and opening them with the boys is so much fun!

Monty in the movies...

I thought I would try putting a slideshow together.  I posted a slightly different version on FB (my first attempt with a lot of errors).  This is attempt two...

The music is "Home" by Phillip Phillips.

We do love our boy Monty!

Sometimes all you can do is try...

I know, it seems kind of silly when we have a perfectly good pool in the backyard...

I bought the boys a play pool.  We keep the big pool blocked off - the filter system can't hold up to the copious amounts of fluff Monty leaves in the water.  So I thought I'll just buy them their own personal little pool and they can get it as dirty as they want.

I should have known better...

Um, no....
We weren't surprised by Sam's lack of interest.  The only time I've seen Sam happy to be in water is at the lake or in very large puddles.

We were surprised by Monty...

My ball is getting wet...
Must... not... be... seen... in "Dora the Explorer" pool....
Honestly, Monty tried his best to not touch the pool.  ...and yes, it is a "Dora the Explorer" pool.  We might not have had this problem if I had bought the "Spongebob Squarepants" pool.

Rosie is Riveting...

Sam here.  Sam take over his blog.  Again.  Is his blog, after all...

Hi dere!

Sam has important news.  It's true!  Sam's Oma went to place called the "Pound" and brought home a new cousin.  Sam not know what this pound is but from what Sam's Mom says, Oma is a hero.  Monty, who has been to this pound, says is true!

Sam wants all his friends to meet Rosie!
Rosie is Riveting!
Sam's Mom here...  Rosie is a 6 year old Chihuahua mix.  She is absolutely adorable, loves attention and has the sweetest personality.  More importantly, she took to my Mom almost instantly which is what we were hoping for.
As you can see, she isn't very big, but she has a whole lot of heart!

Dog Days of Summer #17 - Flashback/baby photo

Are you ready to see the absolute cutest thing you have ever seen in your life?  Are you sitting down?  I'm not kidding, this is cuteness overload....

May I present...   Puppy Sam!

Of course, we still think he is that cute!

Dog Days of Summer #15 - Close Up!

Monty is ready for his close up, Mr Demille!  When the camera comes out Monty makes sure he is front and center...
Working the camera....
Even Sam get's into the action, although he was asleep and didn't know it at the time...
...but, our favorite shot of all?  Monty letting us know it is time to wake up and get him some kibble!
I'm hungry!

Dog Days of Summer #14 - In Costume

Sam is our costume man.  Simply stated.  Monty absolutely refuses to wear more than a bandanna, Sam will put up with all sorts of silliness.  Needless to say, we came across these gems in our archives...
Sam makes a very convincing Frankenstein...

How many pups would put up with this?

Sam in his customized bee suit - notice how he is rocking the leg warmers...
Don't you just want to hug the little bee?

Dog Days of Summer #13 - Hiding Spots and Abstract Art...

Well, hiding spots first I think!  Oddly enough, all our funny photos of Sam have to do with Bath Day!  Sam tries desperately to hide when he sees the shampoo come out.

Sam isn't in this picture...  You can't see him....
Monty, on the other hand, doesn't want you to know the location of his secret Monty Cave.  However, we did manage to sneak a picture...
Oh noes - you found my Monty Cave!
The boys and I decided to try something different on Sunday, and took a stab at creating a little (I mean miniature!) abstract art...
I think these miniatures are the start of Monty's art career!

Dog Days of Summer #12 - Hot Dog

Oh, we have plenty of hot dogs in Arizona!  BOL!

I had to dig back through the archives for a special photo that always make me smile...

There's a hot dog in here somewhere!
Here is Sam braving water to rescue a hot dog during AZGRC's annual Gotcha Day celebration

P.S. - Don't tell Sam, but today is bath day!

Norwood's Dog Days of Summer - Day 10

I know we are running a bit late on this, but I figure starting on Day 10 is better than Day 20, right? BOL!

As you know, the concept of being wet is traumatizing to Sam, but he still gets his bath's right on time.  I found a few of these gems in our archives...

Get it off, get it off!

For the love of Dog, someone save me!
Of course, if you really want to see some wet fur action, take a look at this post starring Monty and Sam!

A Saturday at Oma's...

This morning we decided to bring Monty and Sam to my Mom's house.  It has been a long hot summer and the boys haven't gone on many adventures!  We wanted to also give Monty a chance to chase the bubbles we got in our Bark Box - our yard is a little bit small for his amazing jumping ability.

When we got there, we whipped out the bubbles, thinking Monty would go wild with excitement.  At our house he goes crazy when we blow them, but our yard is too small for him to really enjoy himself.
Hmmm...  Bubbles...  Not right now, Dad.
Monty, however, decided that the shadows on the ground were more interesting than his bubbles.  After one half-hearted jump, he ignored them completely.

If you noticed in the picture above, we have Monty on a very long leash.  Monty reeeeeeaaaalllly likes the horses, but the horses don't like Monty.  Since I'm not capable of diving in and saving Monty right now, we decided to be safe.  We did bring him around to visit with the horses, but he acted like he didn't even notice them.

Visiting our big mare, Isabel...
Shadows....
...and our stallion, Baron.
Baron was all for a little butt sniffing, but Monty just ignored him.
Monty enjoyed visiting everything at my Mom's place.  There are so many things to smell, not at all like at our house.

Taking a walk with Dad
We did try to give Monty a ride in Fritzi, my Mom's golf cart.  Monty was fine with it but insisted he operate the peddles...
Which one makes this thing go faster?
And Sam?  Sam was just happy poking around and visiting all the things he remembers as a pup.  He grew up here and remembers what it is like to be a farm dog.
Hurry up, Dad, we've got ponies to feed!

We hope you all have a great weekend!
