Sometimes all you can do is try...

I know, it seems kind of silly when we have a perfectly good pool in the backyard...

I bought the boys a play pool.  We keep the big pool blocked off - the filter system can't hold up to the copious amounts of fluff Monty leaves in the water.  So I thought I'll just buy them their own personal little pool and they can get it as dirty as they want.

I should have known better...

Um, no....
We weren't surprised by Sam's lack of interest.  The only time I've seen Sam happy to be in water is at the lake or in very large puddles.

We were surprised by Monty...

My ball is getting wet...
Must... not... be... seen... in "Dora the Explorer" pool....
Honestly, Monty tried his best to not touch the pool.  ...and yes, it is a "Dora the Explorer" pool.  We might not have had this problem if I had bought the "Spongebob Squarepants" pool.

  4. Who doesnt love Dora :) I always wanted a real inground pool for Haylie but I know we would have the same problems with all her hair. I got her a big circle water trough :) she doesnt spend as much time in it as I hoped though lol. Maybe I should have gone the spongebob route too!

  9. Isn't that always the way? Try to do something nice for your dogs only to realize you got it wrong.

  11. My coon hound, Daisy, loves to get in the kiddie pools at the 2 parks we visit and wondered if she would get in one if I bought one for the backyard. I really shouldn't wonder since she doesn't like to be introduced to new things (the new loveseat and dog feeding station which I wrote about have still not been well received) at all!
How funny that Monty will at least touch the pool! I wonder if Sam will follow his lead?

  12. That pool would be great for my guys! It doesn't take much water to let a corgi swim!

  19. For sure it would have been better if you would have bought the Spongebob pool! Ha ha! Maybe they didn't want to have to jump over the side. They wanted to step in...maybe! That's my only guess. Well, not for Sam, but for Monty.

  21. Hehehe, great photos. Maybe you would have liked a Thomas the Tank Engine pool. Either way your new pool looks fab. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  22. Sam and Monty, You should come visit us in New York. We have lots of nice lakes and waterfalls. They wouldn't insult your dignity like a Dora the Explorer pool. :)

Just kidding. I'd be happy to play in a Dora pool. Your boys don't know what they're missing.

  23. Would be much funner if you had a few kids to splash around with. My kids make our Dora pool so much more fun.

  24. BOL - so will you be off to the store tomorrow to get that Sponge Bob pool?

We don't do pools either, we prefer a good hard rain:) Mom feels differently.

  25. So furry nice to meet you! Thank you for sniffing your way over to my blog and pawing such a kind comment. I appreciate it!

Furry lucky pups to have your own pool but seeing how you are both Alpha Males I can understand staying away from "Dora." BOL!

  28. Can't imagine the congestion the WDA would cause a filter system. But if there are no cabanas or lounge chaises or drink service, why bother even going near a pool? And DORA the Explorer...really?

  29. Ha! It's been so hot here I was wishing we had a pool. Though the last photo looks almost like a giant water dish.

  30. That's so cool!! I want a pool to swim in too though I prefer the beach..

  32. I guess you can't always drag a dog to water :) :) :) Just takes a bit of time for those instincts to kick in

  33. I understand your hesitancy. I am a little ambivalent about a full dunk too, although the rest of my woofie family are all of the "jump right in" persuasion!

    Woofs,

  39. Our dogs won't go near the pool. It doesn't matter if we throw a whole steak in there - they won't touch it. I am pretty sure they think water = a swift death.

  40. You willingly get into the water? Hmmm. I'm not sure about that.
