Pet Friendly Arizona!

We would like to introduce you to a new feature of "How Sam Sees It" called "Pet Friendly Arizona!". As you know, Aaron and I are always looking for places to go with Sam and thought we would share our successes (and maybe our failures - we have been kicked out of a place or two!) with you. That way, if you are ever visiting Arizona, you will know where you can go and what to do with your fur-pal!

Our first stop on our tour is at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. The Arboretum is located 3 miles south of the town of Superior on U.S. 60. This is one of our favorite places to go, as well as one of the prettiest. While Boyce Thompson has always been dog friendly, we noticed they have stepped up the welcome even more! As you reach the main intersection of trails, there are dog bags (all they ask is that you clean up after your dogs!) as well as water dishes next to every fountain!

Sam has always enjoyed his visits to the Arboretum!

After all the rains we've gotten this year in Arizona, the flowers here were putting on quite a show!

There are also lots of world exhibits to look at. Here is Sam sitting outside the station in the Australian exhibit.

Here he is in the Herb Garden.

There are also many trails to wander through.

Aaron took this wonderful picture of a bee.

We highly recommend Boyce Thompson Arboretum as a great place to spend the day!

  1. How marvelous! Jack and I will certainly put this on our things to do list!!!

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

  2. Ditto for Lady and I. We will drop an email or comment whenever we find dog friendly places in our Arizona travels. Here is one:

Eureka Grill, 15332 W. Bell Rd. Suite 101, Surprise, AZ ~ Nice dog friendly dining patio. Good food, cold beer, decent wine list.

Lady gives it 4 paws up.

  3. Beautiful place! And thank you for doing this all of us. It's a great idea to blog and let everyone know about pet-friendly places.

    Sam & June

  4. What a cool feature! And that's so cool that they're so welcoming to pups! What a fun adventure!
    Play bows,

  5. Woof! Woof! What a great place. My family have been there ... maybe next time they go they'll take me along. Thanks for sharing ... great photos. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  6. What a great day! Love the flowers! AND Beth LOVES herb gardens....hers isn't that big! I am very happy you had fun!

  7. That is so nice to have a place like that you can share with Sam! I should probably be more adventuresome and get Farley out and about...

  8. Wow, thanks for the tip on BTA. We didn't know they were dog friendly! Biltmore Fashion Square has been very dog friendly - although I hear the "3 Dog Bakery" is now gone. But the grassy area is very open and inviting, as are most of the outdoor restaurants. If you ever have a therapy dog in training that needs to learn to ride an elevator, go there... I used it as a great practice area for my dog Ben, an assistance activity dog.

  9. We have an arboretum here that allows dogs on certain of the trails. We really need to take a trip there. The flowers were so pretty at yours. Mom is very anxious to see flowers around here too. Thanks for sharing your fun visit.

    Woos, Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  11. Hi, Sam!

  12. How nice! We don't have many pet friendly options out here, so it's fun to tag along!

  13. Yep, 3 Dog Bakery at Biltmore is gone. There is one listed in Sedona.

  14. Boyce Thompson Arboretum sure looks like a fun way to spend the day to us, Sam! Mom is loving all of the pictures of the beautiful flowers!

    Love ya lots,
    Maggie and Mitch
